Central Illinois Athletes Take Home Gold at Women’s State Track and Field Finals | Sports

CHARLESTON, Ill. (WAND) – Central Illinois athletes were gunning for gold at the IHSA Girls’ Track and Field State Finals.

In 1A, Tuscola’s Lia Patterson continued where she had progressed the last two years. Patterson took home the 100 and 400 meter hurdles and placed third in the 100 and 200 meter dashes.

In 2A, Lincoln’s Becca Heitzig finished her high school career on top. After already claiming a state title in cross country and basketball, Heitzig added two more gold medals to her name. Heitzig finished first in the 800 and 1,600 meters.

In 3A, Glenwood’s Katelyn Lehnen flirted with a triple crown. Lehnen captured titles in the 100 and 400 meters.
