Chicago Weather: Storms down trees, knock out power throughout Chicago area

SKOKIE, Ill. (WLS) — Storms downed trees in several Chicago-area neighborhoods and suburbs Tuesday night.

In the 9100 block of North LaCrosse Avenue in Skokie, a tree fell on a car after high winds from last night’s storms.

Damage was also reported in the northwest suburbs of Elgin, where a tree fell on two people on South Road due to high winds.

The Kane County Sheriff’s Office said those two people went to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

In Round Lake Beach, a large tree branch went through the roof of a home on Ferndale Drive.

The Round Lake Beach Fire Department used a ladder truck to help remove part of the branch and cover the damaged roof.

“There was like a very loud bang coming from the roof,” said Round Lake Beach resident Emiliano Garcia. .

In northwest Des Plaines, a tree fell on power lines and a car…on Vassar Lane.

Crews can be seen working to remove the fallen tree from the power lines and car.

According to ComEd, about 16,906 customers were without power as of 6 a.m.
