Person hit by train after interruption of Merseyrail services

A person has been hit by a train.

According to the Merseyrail website, “a major disruption” is affecting the Southport and Hunts Cross lines.

The site says: “Due to a person being hit by a train at Aigburth, the Hunts Cross line is disrupted. Disruption is expected until 13:00 on 23/05. Train services to Hunts Cross will terminate at Liverpool Cntrl Northern and will start from Liverpool Cntrl Northern.”

A rail replacement bus service has been requested between Moorfields and Hunts Cross.

Due to unrelated incidents, the Chester and Ellesmere Port lines are also experiencing “major disruption”.

The ECHO has contacted British Transport Police for more information about the Aigburth incident.
