WATCH: Indianapolis firefighters save day-old ducklings

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WANE via STORYFUL) – Some day-old ducklings were rescued from a monumental pool in Indianapolis, Indiana, on Wednesday, May 22, after they entered the water and were swept into drains, firefighters said local.

Images released by the Indianapolis Fire Department show the rescue of the six ducklings, which the department said were born on Tuesday.

Five of the birds were rescued using a strainer basket, the department said, and the last one seen in the footage was done by hand.

The mother and her ducklings were reunited just under two hours after the rescue began, the department said.

Seeing the potential danger of a repeat situation for the small family, a local construction company also offered to build ramps to allow the ducks to enter and exit the pool safely.
