Containment of wind-driven wildfires in Arizona grows

About 200 firefighters continued to battle a wildfire in Arizona that quickly grew to more than 14,000 acres.

Firefighters have kept the Wildcat Fire from growing in size over the past day, but extremely low humidity, warm temperatures and gusty afternoon winds continued to be a concern.

The fire forced the closure of parts of the Tonto National Forest.

The fire, which has improved from 0% containment to 36% containment in two days. It burns in the grass and weeds. The cause of the fire is listed as “human.”
