Texas’ Micah Braswell doubles team advances in NCAA tennis tournament

Texas men’s tennis player Micah Braswell advanced to the round of 16 during Tuesday’s NCAA singles championship at the Greenwood Tennis Center in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

Braswell, seeded fifth, topped Kentucky’s Taha Baadi 6-1, 6-3. He will face Alabama’s Filip Planinsek on Wednesday for a spot in the quarterfinals.

In doubles, Eliot Spizzirri and Cleeve Harper also advanced to the quarterfinals with a thrilling 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (8) victory over the Boston College tandem of JJ Bianchi and Jake Vassel. They will face Wake Forest’s Holden Koons and Dhakshineswar Suresh in the quarterfinals in a rematch of a contest between Spizzirri and Harper during the team tennis tournament.

Texas women’s tennis team ends season

The Texas women’s tennis season ended Tuesday when Malaika Rapolu fell in the round of 32 in singles and doubles with partner Tanya Sasnouskaya.
