BARTLETT, Illinois — A pedestrian was struck and killed by a train at the intersection of Western Avenue and Railroad Avenue in Bartlett, police confirmed Thursday morning, delaying Metra service on the Milwaukee District West line.

Bartlett Police confirmed the incident on their X page (formerly Twitter). They said Metra police are on scene investigating the incident and that the train crossing at Oak Avenue and Railroad Avenue remains open to traffic.

Metra, meanwhile, issued a service alert on its website, saying riders should expect long delays near Bartlett on the MDW line.

In an update on X just before 6:30 a.m., Metra says: “Track #1 has been cleared for train movement near Bartlett. Incoming trains have been authorized to run at restricted speeds through the area. Incoming trains may experience long delays.”

WGN will update the situation as it develops.
