IDOT contest seeks photographs of state in motion

“Everywhere you look, you see evidence that Illinois is the transportation hub of North America,” said Illinois Transportation Secretary Omer Osman. “We are inviting the public to show why transportation is important to you. Send us your best photo. It could be the road you travel on to and from work, a bike path you enjoy, an airport, a public transport stop, a bridge or a unique stretch near home – anything that inspires you or helps you get there. where you need to go.”

Transportation department staff will review the original photos submitted and choose three finalists, who will then be posted online for the public to vote on and decide the winner. The winning photo will be displayed on the Illinois Department of Transportation’s Facebook banner for one month, while the winning photographer will receive a certificate of recognition and a mention in a website article announcing the winner.

Amateur photographs and photographs taken with mobile phones will be accepted as long as the photographs are related to the theme of the contest. Photographs taken while driving will not be accepted, although dash cam photographs will be permitted if identified as such. Photographs taken on railroad property will also not be accepted.

Photos must be submitted digitally between Friday and June 7 to [email protected]. Voting will take place from June 14 to 17 and the winner will be announced on June 21.
