Loved ones of Houston mother killed by tree during devastating windstorm to hold plate sale

HOUSTON – There are no words to fully capture how disturbing the last week has been for the family of Christin Martínez.

During the devastating wind storm that hit Houston last Thursday night, Martinez, 31, was tragically killed while attempting to move his vehicle when a tree crashed on top of him.

She was one of 8 Houstonians who died during the storm and left behind four children, ages 12, 10, 8 and 1. Relatives told KPRC 2 digital producer Ahmed Humble that they have been struggling to raise funds for the baby and her funeral. Expenses to bury Martínez.

That’s why they’re holding a plate sale on Saturday, May 25 at Perfect Choice BBQ on Galveston Rd. from 12 – 4 p.m.

“Our hearts are saddened by the loss of our beloved Christin,” the plate sale flyer says. “She was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife and mother to her four children: Jack, Mason, Anakin and Myles.”
