Interstate 76 East closed due to wildfire in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA – A section of Interstate 76 east in Philadelphia is closed due to a brush fire on nearby train curbs, officials said Tuesday afternoon.

I-76 East is closed between the Girard Avenue/Philadelphia Zoo exit (Exit 342) and the Spring Garden Street exit (Exit 343), Philadelphia and PennDOT emergency officials said.

According to authorities, there is firefighter activity in the area due to the forest fire.

Drivers should expect delays and consider alternative routes, and allow for additional travel time.

PennDOT traffic cameras show traffic on Interstate 76 east before the closure is at a standstill as of 3:25 p.m.
