Owen Stevens, four-time Michigan state champion, Verbals to Louisville

NEW COMMITMENT: The University of Louisville has secured a new verbal commitment for Fall 2025 from Owen Stevens Outside Zeeland, Michigan.

he will join Nat Thomas in Kentucky as a member of the Cardinals’ Class of 2029.






Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I am very excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and swimming career at the University of Louisville! I would like to thank my family, Coach Drew and my teammates for supporting me. I would also like to thank Coach Albiero and the entire Louisville coaching staff and team for welcoming me to The Ville! GO CARDS”

Stevens trains year-round with West Michigan Swimmers and most recently had three best times at the TYR 18&U Spring Cup at Elkart. He placed fifth in the 200 meters at the Indy Sectionals in March and placed 22nd in that event at Juniors East in December.

His best moments include:

  • 100 free – 46.20
  • 200 free – 1:39.25
  • 500 free – 4:27.48
  • 100 chest – 56.53
  • 200 back – 1:46.17
  • 200 IM – 1:49.44
  • 400 IM – 3:55.91

Finishing his junior year at Zeeland High School, Stevens won the 200 IM and 500 free at the Michigan DI State Championships in 2023 and 2024. He placed sixth and fourth, respectively, in those events during his freshman year.

Additionally, he was named to the Michigan Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association ‘Dream Team’ after recording the fastest 500 free times of all Michigan divisions during his high school season.
