ATLANTA – On May 21, Georgia voters went to the polls to cast their ballots in the May 2024 primary.

The primaries set the stage for the November general election, narrowing the field of qualified candidates so that there is only one candidate from each party for this fall’s election.

All of Georgia’s 14 congressional seats (although some candidates are running unopposed) and each of Georgia’s 180 House seats and Georgia’s 56 Senate seats were up for vote Tuesday. Sheriffs, judges, district attorneys, school boards and some county commissioner positions were also up for vote. There were also several statewide races on the ballot, including a seat for the Georgia Supreme Court.

If a clear winner is not decided in a race on Election Day, the top two finishers will face each other again in a runoff, scheduled for June 18.
