HPD arrests 15 people for raiding businesses during power outages

HOUSTON (KIAH) — Fifteen people have been arrested for allegedly trying to take advantage of power outages after last week’s storms.

They were caught by Houston police breaking into businesses. HPD posted the details on X, formerly known as Twitter.

All suspects were taken to prison and charged with serious crimes.

Meanwhile, thieves stole dozens of guns from a northwest Houston pawn shop that had no power.

Authorities said they broke into an EZ Pawn Shop at 4702 Highway 6 while it was without power over the weekend and stole more than 30 guns.

Sources told our news partners that the thieves broke in through the roof.

The ATF is now investigating, but the cameras were obviously not working because the power was out.
