Woman dead after stabbing at downtown Mississauga hotel, police say

Peel Regional Police officers say a woman has died after she was found with stab wounds at a downtown Mississauga hotel Monday morning.

Officers said they were called to the hotel at the intersection of Whittle Road and Britannia Road East, near Hurontario Street and Highway 401, just before 9:30 a.m.

The circumstances surrounding the incident were not immediately clear, but a spokesperson said the woman, believed to be in her 50s, was found in a bedroom.

Investigators did not release information about the suspect, but the spokesperson said the victim knew the suspect.

Const. Richard Chin told reporters that officers are reviewing surveillance video from the hotel as part of the ongoing investigation.

“This is a very tragic incident, but I think what we’re going to do is everything we can to locate this person who committed this crime,” he said while encouraging the suspect to contact an attorney and surrender to officers.

The woman’s death marks the 12th homicide of 2024 in Peel Region.
