Lady Vols knock off Virginia to reach Knoxville regional final

After scoring eight runs in three straight games against Kentucky earlier this month to clinch the Southeastern Conference championship and close out the regular season, the Tennessee Lady Volunteers didn’t break out offensively in their loss to LSU in the SEC tournament or in the Friday’s victory over Dayton. to open the NCAA Knoxville Regional tournament.

That changed dramatically Saturday afternoon inside Sherri Parker Lee Stadium.

Kiki Milloy led off with a home run to left-center field and Taylor Pannell followed with a home run to center as Tennessee swept Virginia 12-0 to reach Sunday’s championship for the four-team regional. The Lady Vols, seeded third in the 64-team field, needed just four innings at the plate and Payton Gottshall’s five innings on the mound to crush the Cavaliers.
