The couple were rushed to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and are in a stable condition.

A 22-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to Newtown police station.

He is helping the police with their investigations.

“All three people know each other,” NSW Police said.

Police have cordoned off the area, outside Marrickville High School, while they investigate.

It comes weeks after it was revealed that NSW police will be given greater search powers in response to a series of knife attacks.
