The police chase ends in a car accident; both directions of Highway 9 are closed

FAIR PLAY, COLO. — On Saturday, May 18, the Park County Sheriff’s Office attempted to arrest an armed and dangerous person with at least one warrant from Teller County.

According to the Park County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect was traveling northbound on Highway 9 toward Hoosier Pass at a high rate of speed, posing a significant safety risk.

The Park County Sheriff’s Office, with the assistance of the Fairplay Police Department and the Colorado State Patrol, were able to end the chase.

The suspect’s vehicle fled toward Summit County, where it crashed in the Blue River area.

Highway 9 near Hoosier Pass is currently closed in both directions until further notice.
